i am a 13 years old girl and i want to get into motocross help!?
i am a 13 year old girl, i live in sydney poat code 2087 and i really want to get into motocross but i have no idea. can any one help because i dont no the first thing to do. i can probally handle getting a bike and gear ect (but help on that would be great) but what do i do to get started, like how do i learn to motocross and stuff i am really lost please help guys!
Firstly you need to find a club that you would like to join and get a membership as you have to belong to a club to be entitled to have a licence to race. If you are going to race regularly you are better off getting an anual licence as it works out cheaper, you can however obtain a day licence at most club level events but it is best to ask the club you are joining. You have to attend 5 hours of coaching before you are allowed to race and most local clubs provide club level coaching that will give you the basics on safety and what is expected on a race day. You will get a log book from motorcycling NSW in which you have to have your coach record the hours that you have done and the log book has to be with you every time you attend a race day or practice day. Any injuries that you may get while at the track and any infringements to the rules will be recorded in the log book either by the clerk of the course or the steward. All juniors have to have a log book and do the hours of training and keep in mind that if you start out on a crf150r and then decide to go to a 250f you have to obtain another 5 hours coaching on that specific bike before you will be allowed to race it. You also have to do 5 hours coaching every year before your licence will be renewed. The club you join has all the forms that you need to get going with the coaching and the licence so when you join up just ask them. It does sound confusing but the club will guide you and once you get started you will understand how it works.
All clubs run practice days so you can practice plenty before actually racing and it is a good idea to attend any race days that are held so you can just have a look. Most places require for you to provide a person over 16 to do corner duty when you race so perhaps mum or dad could help out there.
If you are anywhere near Canberra the mx nationals are on this weekend and it is one of the biggest mx events in Australia so would be worth a look if you can get along to see it. The best of the best will be racing and my son is entered in the under 19's
