Bilko has the number 22 on his bike at present
Chad Reed usually rides under the number 22 but I think he has been using number 1 a bit of late. He used 22 when in Australia.
Jeremy Mcgrath was riding under the number 2 but when he raced in Australia he rode under the letter J.
How do i get into motocross?
I'm a 15 year old guy. I've rode dirt bikes since i was three. Very good at trail riding. VERY. But heres the thing. I don't jump much really never tried. Don't even think i can whip, but I currently ride a 2001 rm 250 with everything. Bills pipe, factory works motor, wiseco piston, boyesen reeds, gold excel rims, renthal handle bars, scott grips, dunlop racing tires. I mean this bike has EVERYTHING. It's actual previous owner is Ricky Carmichael. So would this bike be ok for racing.. or is there a limit it can't be bored or something? No clue... but. I'm about 5'10'' 145 pounds.. do you think i should get something smaller or stick with it? Oh.. and the main question is. How do i sign up for it? or practice at a track?
I am not American so don't know what section you would race with the bike you have but that is something that you can find out by getting involved or perhaps one of the American guys can say if you can ride a heavily modified bike and what section. Where I am there are rules relating to motor modification and you could check yourself by going onto the AMA site and looking up the online rule book. .
Generally in racing whips are not done and where I am you are not actually allowed to whip during a race and can be flagged off if considered doing them. You may mean scrubbing which is similar to a whip but designed to keep low over a jump and this is a racing manouveour.
But the best way to get involved is to find a local track that holds racing and go along for practice days. They will then be able to give you all the information you need to get involved in actual racing.

These are a couple of sites that show tracks for you to find one close to you.
Make sure that you get plenty of seat time on a track with other riders before attempting to race and try to find someone who will train with you. Just don't expect to win first race out, just aim to finish. Learning to jump comes with practice and time on the track. Just keep your eyes and ears open to what the other riders have to say and do and you will learn a lot. Watch other races at the track you will ride at and see what side of the line consistently comes out on top and what is the best line to take in corners. Always walk the track prior to racing and use your practice laps to really check the track out.
