Will adding more mass to a pendulum speed it up?
I have a pendulum and I've tested 4 masses (100, 200, 300, 500)
I did 5 trials for each, except for the 500g because I didn't have time to finish. I timed how many times it would take to do 5 swings. I had the mass attached to the string parallel to the floor, then just dropped it and let it swing freely.
My data averaged:
100g - 9.1s
200g - 9.3s
300g - 9.4s
500g - 9.2s
I have no access to the materials so I won't be able to finish collecting my data.
Does my data look correct? I heard that increasing weight (mass) has no effect on speed, but yet my data increased as I increased the weight, except for the 500g which was weird.
